GOVERNORS OF NORTH CENTRAL ZONE MEET TO PUSH FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NORTH CENTRAL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION 26-05-24
By Sadiq Aminu Governors of the North Central zone are putting heads together to push for the establishment of the North Central Development Commission NCDC.
Governor Abdulrazak Abdulrahman of kwara state announced this at a stakeholders meeting of All Progressives Congress APC in the North Central zone held in lafia the Nasarawa state capital.
Alhaji Abdulrazak who is also the Coordinator of APC in the North Central zone said establishment of the commission was necessary to address myriads of challenges such as banditry, kidnapping,and communal conflicts bedeviling the zone.
In his remark, Benue state governor Reverend Hyacinth Alia described the security situation in the north Central states as unacceptable and called for concerted efforts to check the menace.
Reverend Alia also reminded his counterparts in the zone to find lasting solution towards addressing the annual challenge of flooding confronting various communities in all states in the north Central part of the country.
On his part, Governor of Kogi state, Usman Ododo pointed out that the North Central zone has what it takes to drive the nation’s economy.
According to Usman Ododo, all the states in the zone have in abundance one natural resources or the other such as fertile lands for agriculture, solid minerals including crude oil, gold and many others if adequately harnessed, can generate substantial revenue and ensure development of the region and country at large.
In his submission, member house of representatives and former deputy speaker,
Alhaji Abdullahi Wase called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene to resolve the crises in the plateau state house of Assembly.
Abdullahi Wase also urged the leadership of APC at the national level to reward party loyalists who ensure the success of the party during the 2023 general elections.
The convener of the meeting and Governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule said the gathering was to appraise activities of the party in the zone, resolve grievances of members and proffer solutions to ensure continued success of the party in the zone.
Meanwhile a group of youths who claimed to be APC members from the five states of the north Central zone gathered outside the venue of the meeting calling on the national leadership of the party to ensure equity justice and fairness by returning the national chairmanship position to the north Central zone.
The meeting was attended by former Governors, deputy governors, serving and former members of the national assembly and state houses of assembly, ambassadors and APC stalwarts from the 5 states and the FCT.
