ZAMFARA GOVERNMENT PAYS OVER FIVE BILLION NAIRA AS PENSION AND GRATUITY BACKLOG 29-05-24
By Sadiq Aminu Zamfara State Government Says its inherited over thirteen point six billion naira as backlog of pension and gratuity of state and local government staff which were not paid since 2012.
Governor Dauda Lawal of the state disclosed this during his democracy day speech held at Jibrin Bala Yakubu Secretariat, Gusau.
He said that out of the amount inherited, five million naira was paid to some beneficiaries while the remaining affected bonafied beneficiaries would be paid soon and urged them to be calm.
Dauda lawal further explain that, despite some challenges facing the state, the state internally Generated Revenue, IGR has increased with hundred percent amount to two billion naira instant of one hundred million naira annually.
According to him, the internally Generated Revenue of the state mostly comes from PAYE, (Pay as You Earn) which is mostly from the civil servant, therefore the governor called on captains of industries, business men and women, traders, commercial drivers and Okada riders to ensure promt payment of their dues.
The governor also assured welfare of the state’s civil servants and that of local government staff adding that his administration has paid all the outstanding salaries of the state civil servants which they inherented from the first administration.
He also commended the effort of the security agencies working in the state for their contribution in their quest to end banditry activities in the state adding that, a lot has been achieved .
Earlier in his welcome address, the state PDP Chairman and also Chief of Staff government house Gusau, Mukhatar Lugga said the governor had achieved a lot in the area of security, education, health, agriculture, economic transformation and infrastructure.
He also assured to give the governor and his administration all the necessary support as a party to achieved the desired objectives.
