APC SUPPORT GROUPS CONDEMN SHARING OF ELECTRICITY INTO BANDS                                                                                                  30-05-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Heads of All Progressives Congress Support Groups have condemned outrightly the sharing of electricity into bands by the power ministry.

The Secretary National Movement for Tinubu/Shettima comrade Abubakar Muhammad, who disclosed this in a statement, said this is having serious negative impact in the lives of many families.

Consumers he said, especially those under the so-called band A are having it so hard that many found it difficult to use power for their small and medium scale businesses.

“With the increased electricity tariff, some in the band A have over 70% of their production cost go into payment of electricity bill in which the result is what we are witnessing in term of increment in prices of goods in the market.

“We are calling on the minister to stop this discrimination in the power sector so as to reduce the burden on Nigerians. The resultant effect of this anti-people policy is that it will ended up giving this administration a bad and negative image.

Comrade Muhammad however stated that the Support Groups have passed vote of confidence on performing Ministers in the Tinubu administration, whose scorecard showed that they have performed well in their less than a year in office.

This according to him included the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo whom has brought many innovations into the interior ministry especially on the issue of passport issuance and renewal. Finance Minister, Mr. Wale Edun for his policies on revamping the economy. Sports Development Minister, Sen. John Enoh for being proactive and sensitive to the plight of sportsmen and women.Agriculture and Food Security Minister, Sen. Abubakar Kyari for his efforts in ensuring food security and boosting agricultural production.

He added that others in the category are the Central Bank Governor Mr. Olayemi Cardoso for his reforms in the area of monetary policy and stabilisation of our currency. NDDC Boss Dr. Samuel Ogbuku for his innovations and activeness in the Niger Delta region among others.

The vote of confidence Muhammad said is serving as a way of encouragement as Nigerians are anxiously waiting to see more positive results from all sectors.

Comrade Muhammad call on those still performing below expectation to as a matter of urgency buckle up on their efforts,
because much still needed to be done especially as the administration is gradually moving from foundation laying period to real business.
