RESIDENTS OF KWARA STATE CALLS FOR A HALT TO STRIKE ACTION EMBARKED UPON BY THE NLC AND TUC                                                                                                              04-06 -24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   Residents of Kwara State have called for a halt to the ongoing industrial action embarked on by the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, as the industrial action enters its second day.

This is because of the effect of the strike on trading activities coupled with economic hardship.

A business woman, Alhaja Risikat Abubakar, who was among the bank customers that were denied access to the banking hall decried the hardship created due to the strike.

Mrs Abubakar explained that the development has hindered her business activities and urged both the Federal Government and labour unions to resolve the issue of minimum wage as soon as possible.

“We are here at the bank this morning to do some important things, but the security said we can’t go in. This is bad, considering the effect on my business, I came to lodge a complaint.

” I just appealed to government and labour to think about the masses and quickly resolve this minimum wage” she retorted.

Business owners along the State Secretariat road also complained of low patronage which they attributed to the ongoing industrial action.

Africa 247 Correspondent Sadiq Aminu, reports that labour leaders in the State were out early this morning to ensure strict compliance of commercial banks and other public institutions to the ongoing industrial action.

Meanwhile, transportation workers, filling stations and other members of the informal sector and private schools have continued with their usual activities.
