CUSTOMS HANDS OVER 3 SUSPECTED RAIL TRACKS VANDALS TO NSCDC                                                                                               11-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Sokoto, Zamfara Customs area Command has auctioned more than eleven thousand liters of seized premium Motor Spirit to the general public at official rate of N180 per litre.

Speaking to newsmen before the auction commence, the Area Command Controller, Comptroller Kamal Muhammed said this is in an effort to curtails smuggling and economic sabotage of petroleum products.

The command also handed over a truck load of 20ft container laden rail slippers along with three suspects to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps .

The comptroller regretted that despite the removal of subsidy, the smuggling of PMS brings about extra cost burden, citing the plight of motorists in the country.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Custom Service to protecting Nigeria’s economic interest for sustainable development.

The Area Command handed over the Suspects, the truck, and its content and the sum of N300,000 cash to the Commander NSCDC Sokoto Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Responding, the commandant of the Nigerian Civil Defense Corps, Bello Alkali said the synergy among security operatives in the state is yielding positive results stressing that the civil defense would take the needed action to ensure justice is served in a bid to deter future occurrence.
