HEAVY DOWNPOUR DISPERSES MUSLIM FAITHFULS AT EID PRAYER GROUND IN NIGER 16-06-24
By Sadiq Aminu In Niger state, heavy downpour has dispersed thousands of Muslim faithfuls that have converged on Minna eid prayer ground to perform the two raka’ats prayer for Eid el Kabir.
The two raka’ats prayer was therefore shifted to the Minna Central mosque a situation that has prevented many worshippers from accessing and observing the prayers.
Though many Muslim faithfuls could not go to the mosque due to the heavy downpour, however have taken the advantage of a live coverage transmission on radio to offer the prayers at some residential buildings near Minna Central mosque.
While others who have returned home to change their clothes and return could not make the two raka’ats prayers for the Eid el Kabir.
As early as seven o’clock people have started trooping to Minna eid prayer ground while by eight oclock in the morning the weather situation has changed forcing Muslim faithfuls to relocate to Minna Central mosque where the prayers started by nine thirty am.
In his sermon the Chief Imam of Minna Central mosque Sheikh Ibrahim Isa Fari advised wealthy Muslims to always assist the needy especially in this trying moment to ease their hardship and attract the blessings of Allah.
Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Alh Abubakar Usman, appealled to Nigerlites to continue to pray for an end to the current security challenges bedeviling Niger state and Nigeria towards achieveing his new Niger agenda.
Both the Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago his Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba and Speaker Niger state House of Assembly Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkindaji have traveled to Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s hajj, a situation that was heavily criticised by some members of opposition political party in the state.
Meanwhile Sallah celebrations throughout Niger state has been peaceful and orderly.
