COMMISSIONER OF POLICE IN ANAMBRA ORDERS IMMEDIATE MANHUNT ON ARMED MEN WHO ABDUCTED A CITIZEN IN NNEWI                                                                        18-06-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Commissioner of Police in Anambra state, Mr Nnaghe Itam has ordered an immediate manhunt operation on the armed men Operating in a red Highlander jeep, who abducted a citizen in Nnewi.

Also, the police say three people lost their lives in a gun duel with its operatives in the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga in a release, said Police operatives trailed the gunmen to Nnobi where they engaged the security operatives in a gun battle.

He said, during the gun duel, one of the security Operatives was fatally hit by the bullet.

He explained that, due to the indiscriminate shootings by the hoodlums in an attempt to escape the scene, bullets also fatally struck two innocent passersby in the area.

The Image Maker pointed out that the Police Responding Team at the scene recovered the bodies of the victims and took them to the hospital but regrettably, three of the victims including a twenty two-year-old lady were confirmed dead by the doctors on duty while two others were currently receiving treatment.

He said the Commissioner of Police condemned the killing and described the killers as cowards who had murdered sleep.

Mr Ikenga said, Mr Itam condoled with the families of the deceased and vowed to get justice for the the murdered unsuspecting members at the scene.

Mr Ikenga said, Mr Itam also called on members of the public especially the eyewitnesses to assist the Police with information on the ongoing onslaught.
