NAVY DESTROYS TEN ILLEGAL REFINERY SITES IN BAYELSA CREEK                                                                                                        28-06-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                     The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base in Brass, Bayelsa, has destroyed ten illegal refining sites, a speed boat and a total of one hundred thousand litres of suspected stolen crude oil in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

The Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base (FORMOSO), Captain Ifeanyichukwu Mabeokwu, who made this known to newsmen during the destruction, said the Nigerian Navy was committed to ending crude oil theft in the Niger Delta.

The Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base of the Nigerian Navy said the ten illegal refining sites with cumulative content of about 80,000 litres of illegally refined diesel, and 100,000 liters of suspected stolen crude oil was discovered early Thursday morning at the Nembe Creek through the deployment of high resolution drone technology.

Captain Ifeanyichukwu Mabeokwu said before personnel of the Nigerian Navy arrived at the site, the operators had fled.

Captain Mabeokwu who stated that the Nigerian Navy, under the leadership of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ogalla, was committed to securing the nation’s economic resources and the Nigerian maritime domain, said that the Navy would continue to facilitate a conducive environment for legitimate businesses to flourish and contribute to the nation’s economic progress.

He warned those who indulge in illegal activities such as oil theft to desist from such illegitimate business, as the Nigerian Navy would fish them out and make them face the wrath of the law.
