EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, BSPHCB SAYS THE STATE HAS 50 SUSPECTED CASES OF CHOLERA IN 3 LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS                                                                      01-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed says the state has fifty suspected cases of Cholera in three local government areas, stressing that so far non of them has been confirmed.

He stated this while fielding questions from newsmen on the sidelines of inauguration of First Round of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week, MNCHW in Bauchi.

According to him, the local government areas are Bauchi, Giade and Toro, stressing that case management surveillance activity has already been activated, explaining chlorination of wells and decontamination of gutters are also ongoing.

Dr Mohammed said the suspected cases are undergoing Rapid Diagnostic tests, and Microscopic test, after which all were found to be negative.

He called on people to ensure personal and environmental cleanliness to prevent themselves from the deadly diseases.

On the inaugurated Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week, the Executive Chairman of the Board, said about one point two million children to be provided with life saving interventions.

The children he said would be given deworming tablets, Vitamin A, Micro Nutrient Supplements among others.
