NIGER GOVERNOR APPROVES N5BN FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW NYSC PERMANENT ORIENTTION CAMP 02-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has approved the release of five billion naira for the construction of a new National Youths Service Corp NYSC permanent orientation camp in the state.
The Governor stated this at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch B, Stream orientation course at Paiko in Paikoro Local Government Area.
Alh Umar Bago also used the occasion to announce a two hundred thousand naira bonus for all corps members of the 2014 Batch B, Stream, cows and one truck of rice to make them comfortable during their service year.
He however, gave an assurance that his administations will sink five boreholes and toilets in the temporary camp to enable them have a sense of belonging.
The Niger state Governor also appealled to the corps members to key into his agricultural revolution to address food scarcity, stressing that his administration had invested heavily in agriculture and assured them of their welfare and safety.
In his remarks the Director General of NYSC Brigadier General Yusha’u Ibrahim thanked Governor Umar Bago for the gesture and called closer cooperation to succeed.
Also speaking, Minister for Youth Development Dr Jamila Ibrahim, said part of the ministry’s initiative is to empower five thousand NYSC members with ten million naira each for entrepreneurial ventures upon completion of their service year.
Similarly she said the ministry was launching the National Youth Skills Programme (NYSP) to train over one million young people across diverse fields in technology and agriculture amongst others.
NYSC Coordinator in the state Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, explained that a total of one hundred corps members were serving with Niger Foods as parts of the scheme’s which is part of the scheme contribution to the governor’s green economy initiative.
