SIR AHMAD BELLO MEMORIAL FOUNDATION CAUTIONS YOUTHS AGAINST MASS PROTEST 16-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has cautioned youths against any form of mass protest over the current economic situation in the country.
The Director General of the Foundation, Dr Abubakar Gambo Umar who gave the caution in a statement says the foundation has acknowledged the growing apprehension and restlessness among citizens, particularly the youth and it has vehemently discourage any form of protests.
Dr Abubakar Umar explains that, history has shown that such protests are exploited by opportunistic elements, leading to rampant violence, looting, arson, and senseless loss of lives and properties.
He emphasizes that, any disruption of law and order will only exacerbate the already dire economic situation, further amplifying the suffering of people.
The Director General calls on parents, religious leaders, and community influencers to actively engage with their children and wards by urging them to refrain from participating in any form of riotous activities.
“It is imperative that we safeguard peace and stability for the collective well-being of our beloved nation”
Dr Abubakar Gambo Umar also implored religious, political, and traditional leaders to initiate immediate and substantive dialogue with the government with a view to highlighting the profound hardships faced by our people.
“Constructive engagement is of paramount importance in identifying and implementing lasting solutions to the socio-economic challenges that confront our great nation”
He further called on Governments at all levels to bring down the exorbitant prices of essential commodities, particularly food items, which directly impacts the lives of people.
