UNIILORIN CONFIRMS DEATH OF ONE STUDENT IN ACCIDENT ON CAMPUS                                                                                     18-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The management of the University of Ilorin has confirmed the death of one student in a lone accident that occurred on the University campus.

In a statement the director corporate Affairs of the University, Kunle Akogun said the lone accident involved a commercial bus conveying ten passengers going out of the campus.

According to the statement soon as the accident occurred, the University Management immediately commenced rescue operations, and all the victims were moved to the University Health Centre where they were attended to by a team of medical personnel.

The statement explained that One of the victims needed advanced treatment and was referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) after he was stabilised.

The statement said four of the students had minor injuries and were treated and discharged, adding that five victims, consisting of two males, two females and the driver, are currently being treated at the University Health Centre.

The statement noted that one of the victims was brought in dead, the body has been transferred to the morgue.

It said the University management is making efforts to contact the next of kin.

The statement condoles with the family of the deceased, and prays God to comfort the family.
