PRESIDENT TINUBU RETURNS FROM THE 6TH MID-YEAR CO-ORDINATOR MEETING OF THE AFRICA UNION IN ACCRA, GHANA 22-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu President Bola Tinubu has returned from the 6th Mid-Year Co-ordination meeting of the Africa Union, AU, he attended in Accra, Ghana.
In his capacity as Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, President Tinubu informed the meeting about the state of affairs of the regional bloc.
He mentioned insecurity of food, lives, and property, poverty, as well as unconstitutional change of government as the problems bedevilling the bloc.
He however said ECOWAS had activated its standby force to deal with terrorism, banditry, and other forms of organised crime.
The President said progress had been recorded in counter-terrorism, electoral support, economic integration, humanitarian efforts, education, health, energy, mines, and agriculture, which he hoped would gradually solve the myriad of problems brought about by joblessness, hunger, political desperation, and poverty.
