13 NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPING AND ARMED ROBBERY GANGS APPREHENDED, 20 BOMBS RECOVERED BY ANAMBRA POLICE 26-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu Thirteen notorious kidnapping and armed robbery gangs terrorizing parts of Anambra State have been apprehended while 20 bombs were also recovered by the Police Command in the state.
Parading the suspects , the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nnaghe Itam said the breakthrough done in the last fourteen days were as a result of some kidnapped victims who shared their experiences which provided security agents with an insight of the operations of the various gangs smashed.
The Commissoiner of Police while assuring that security operatives in the state will not relent in their effort to rid the state of criminal elements, encouraged members of the public especially those who had fallen victims to approach nearest security posts to assist with relevant information rather than going to social media to hit up the polity.
The Commissioner of Police explained that one Emeka Okolo aged 29 from Ihiala, Anambra state Uchenna John aged 21 from Ebonyi State and Victor Iniukpong aged 31 from Akwa Ibom State in connection to the kidnap of ine Abuchi Madueke on 13/7/2024 at Nimo where they shot dead one Clement Obodozie and snatched a lexus 330 jeep.
He noted that the gang were arrested while they were trying to demobilize a car tracker on another victim they kidnapped on 15/07/2024, in Onitsha.
Mr Itam said On 23/07/2024 at about 0900hrs operatives from the command arrested 43 years old Nnatu Chicdozie from Enugu Ukwu, Onyeka Okoye aged 22 from Uruagu Mbaukwu and Ndubuisi Emmanuel Abate aged 19 and hail from Ayamelum who are members of the kidnapping syndicate connected with the kidnap of Architect Sunday Etimbuk and Goodness Friday on 21/07/ 2024 at Odume Obosi.
The Command withing the last fourteen days also arrested some armed robbers who parade themselves as cultists in Awka the state capital.
The Commissioner of Police said the Four suspects who are indigenes of Awka include Emeka Okotor aged 18, Chidubem Ejiofor 18yrs, 20 year old Chigwo Nwankwo ‘and Chijoka Onyibor aged 18yrs while a pump action gun and other arms were recovered in their possession as their operational weapon.
Mr Itam told journalists that one Chignogu Favor from Ihiala and Mbanefo Udeze from Oraifite belonging to a notorious kidnapping gang that operates in Anambra state from a hideout in Asaba were apprehended after police operatives stormed them.
The Security Operatives also arrested one kidnapper Chigemezu Okafor a.k.a. ENGLAND from Mbano and Uchenna Nwiwy from Ngor Okpala, both from Imo state who are masterminds of kidnapping incidents in Anambra state.
The Suspects were arrested at various locations in the state and their operational weapons such as 4 pump action guns and one double barrel gun were recovered.
The Commissioner of Police expressed their preparedness to sustain the tempo of operations to restore peace to every nook and cranny of the State together with all law enforcement and security agencies .
According to him, Police understands the enormity of the trust bestowed upon them to protect life and property and despite obvious systematic challenges, the officers and men of the command are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all well-meaning citizens of the state.
