IMO STATE POLICE VOWS TO APPREHEND THE KILLERS OF 4 POLICE PERSONNEL AT IRETE NEAR OGBAKU IN OWERRI WEST LGA 30-07-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Imo State Police command has vowed to apprehend and bring to book those responsible for the killing of four police personnel at Irete near Ogbaku in Owerri west local government area of the state on Monday.
In a statement made available by the Command’s Spokesperson Mr. Henry Okoye, the Commissioner of Police Mr Danjuma Aboki expressed sadness over the incident noting that the miscreants had murdered peace.
He said the Command had activated its’ tactically unit in synergy with other security agencies to hunt down the fleeing gunmen.
According to the statement, the operatives were ambushed while on routine patrol at Irete along the Owerri-Onitsha express road when they were killed while leaving a civilian fatally injured.
Mr. Okoye explained that the bodies of the four slain policemen had since being deposited at the mogue and added that the tragic loss served as a painful reminder of the sacrifices made by security personnel in ensuring safety of lives and property.
Mr. Aboki commiserates while commiserating with the families of the deceased victims appealed to the public to assist the Command with useful information that will facilitate the arrest of the gunmen.
