NNPP KANO SETS HIGH STANDARDS FOR LG CANDIDATES, INTRODUCES DRUG TESTS, ACADEMIC VERIFICATION                                                                                                       20-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano has established a Screening Committee to thoroughly vet prospective candidates for the upcoming local government elections.

The committee will assess candidates’ academic backgrounds, conduct drug tests, and verify their records to ensure they have sound character and leadership qualities.

According to NNPP State Chairman Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, the party is purchasing WEAC scratch cards to double-check candidates’ academic credentials and records.

He explained that already the party has also set nomination fees for chairmen (N500,000) and councillors (N150,000), with expression of interest fees set at N100,000 and N50,000, respectively.

Dungurawa emphasized that the party aims to field candidates with sound backgrounds who can address the economic and social challenges facing Kano citizens.

He also commended the State Electoral Commission (KANSAIC) for setting high fees for expression of interest forms, which will help ensure only credible candidates contest the elections.

The NNPP government prioritizes education and development, and its rigorous screening process reflects this focus.
