7 PERSONS DECLARED MISSING AND HUNDREDS OF HECTATES OF FARMLAND WASHED AWAY BY FLOOD IN NIGER                                                                                     30-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  Seven people have been declared missing while eighty nine houses and hundred of hectates of farmland have been washed away following torrential rainfall in Mashegu and Magama Local Government Areas of Niger states.

The heavy downpour which occurred in the early hours of today lasted for some hours.

Director General Niger state Emergency Management Agency NSEMA Alh Abdullahi Baba Ara stated this in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna.

Alh Abdullahi Baba Ara further explained that three vehicles have also been washed away by the torrential rainfall that has wrecked havoc in the two local governments.

Communities affected are Sabon pegi, in Mashegu Local Government Area and Nassarawa in Magama Local Government Area of the state.

Meanwhile search and rescue operation are still ongoing by staff of Niger state Emergency Management Agency and it’s volunteers as well as local riverine communities.
