PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT TO CONSTRUCT 55 NEW SECONDARY SCHOOLS                                                                        03-09-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  Fifty Five New Secondary Schools across the 17 local government areas are to be constructed in Plateau State.

The project, courtesy of the World Bank assisted Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE project in collaboration with the State Government was flag off by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

The Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE project is a World Bank assisted initiative, aimed at improving secondary education opportunities among Girls in targeted areas of participating states.

Presenting letters of award of contracts for the construction of Fifty Five New Secondary Schools in the State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang described it as a milestone towards the development of the education sector and charged the contractors to ensure that the project becomes a reference point for others to emulate.

Governor Mutfwang further explained that world bank projects are usually on loan basis and governments can maximise the opportunities for development if proper implementation is guaranteed.

Earlier, state Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mohammed Nyalun lauded the government and the consultants for their tireless efforts in making the project a reality.

Giving a synopsis on the project, the State Project coordinator, Shirinkpo Maina said the schools design was driven by inclusiveness, and highlighted on the scope of the project.

Also speaking, a representative of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals in Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, Mr Datu appreciated the governor for employing more teachers while Builder Daman Fwangchi on behalf of the contractors pledged to ensure proper execution of the project.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the symbolic presentation of the awards contract letters to the various contractors.
