SECRETARY TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERATION SAYS THE 64TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION WILL BE LOW-KEYED                                                                                                                                             19-09-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume says the 64th Independence Anniversary celebration will be low-keyed to reflect the trying times the nation was undergoing.

He made the statement at the inauguration of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for the 2024 Independence Day Celebration in Abuja.

The committee is to plan, organize and execute activities to commemorate the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers.

Senator George Akume who is the Chairman of the Committee said the event would afford the government the opportunity to showcase to Nigerians its scorecard on national development.

The SGF who was represented by the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman said the 64th Independence Anniversary celebration will commence with a World Press Conference on Thursday, the 26th of September while a Juma’at Service will follow on Friday.

A Church Service is slated on Sunday, the 29th of September and on Monday, the 30th, there will be a Presidential Broadcast, and the 64th Independence Day Parade will hold on Tuesday, 1st October.
