NSCDC TO DISCIPLINE ARRESTED OFFICER IN ZAMFARA, REITERATES ZERO TOLERANCE FOR MISCONDUCT                                                                                                                        28-09-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Zamfara state command has pledged to discipline and prosecute the officer of the command, ASCII Maikano Sarkin-Tasha arrested by the Nigeria police in Zamfara state for allegedly supplying ammunitions and drugs to bandits in the State.

The state Commandant, Sani Mustapha stated this while addressing newsmen at the command headquarters in Gusau, the Zamfara state.

Mr Mustapha who has condemned, the alleged barbaric behaviour of the erring officer, said the command is known for integrity in service delivery, discipline and compliance with ethical standards.

He explained that, the command had zero tolerance to indiscipline, corruption, criminality or any vices that was unbecoming for an officer of the Corps.

“The Corps Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is also enforced regularly to regulate personnel against compromise or any act of misconduct which is contrary to set standards and inimical to the wellbeing of the society.

According to him, the command had placed on record that the action of the officer reflects only his own personality as an individual and it does not in any way represent or reflect the image, character or standard of officers and men of the Zamfara Command or the Corps nationwide.

Commandant Sani Mustapha also confirmed that, the arrested officer had earlier been reported for an irresponsible attitude to work and efforts to track him was to no avail.

“It is noteworthy that, the arrested officer had been reported earlier for truancy and complete absenteeism from work and has since not been seen and his whereabouts unknown until the news of his arrest by a sister agency”, the State Commandant hinted.

Mr Sani Mustapha further revealed that, preliminary findings indicated that, the officer was arrested at a check point between Damba and Sabon Gida axis while he was on transit to his home town Mada and they allegedly found some elements suspected to be cannabis and other hard drugs in his possession.

“Other items recovered from his residence were three (3) armour of G3 rifle and one (1) armour of anti aircraft rifle, totally four (4) ammunition”

The Commandant further confirmed that, he would be interfacing with the commissioner of police in Zamfara State for further necessary action towards ensuring that diligent disciplinary action, investigation and prosecution is instituted and full wrath of the law is meted on him accordingly.

He reiterates that the Corps is poised to work with all security agencies of government in the fight against crime and criminality in the society and will not spare any action in enforcing discipline against any of its erring officers and men, no matter how highly connected.

“Our Command will continue to work for the good people of the state to protect critical national assets and protect lives and property of the citizens with utmost professionalism and without compromise.

“We promise to pursue the case with utmost transparency as the Corps does not condone any act indiscipline, not to talk of banditry or terrorism allegations”, he said.

He assured that the command will keep the press and the general public abreast of further developments in due course.
