FIGHTING CRIME: KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, DRUG DEALERS, OTHERS                                                                                        30-09-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                               The Kano State Police Command says it has achieved remarkable successes in its efforts to ensure public safety and prevent crimes.

Commissioner of Police Salman Dogo Garba disclosed this during a press conference held at the Bompal Police Headquarters on September 30, 2024.

Represented by the Commands public relations officer SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the Command was able to Arrests 89 notorious criminals ,including 15 armed robbery suspects, 10 suspected drug dealers, and 1 human trafficking suspect.

He said police were able to Rescue 2 human trafficking victims and 2 kidnapping victims .

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa explained that the Kano police Command were able to Recover Illicit drugs, dangerous weapons, and stolen properties,including 538 bottles of Bacardin Syrup and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

He noted that the command’s strategic decision to embark on robust community engagements, intelligence-led operations, and round-the-clock visibility patrols has yielded positive results, with 43 suspects charged to court and 46 under investigation.

Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa maintained that the Command recognizes the importance of community engagement and partnership in maintaining peace and security.

“We’ve been engaging with stakeholders, including media outlets, to sensitize the public on security tips and appreciates the cooperation and support of the Kano State Government, other security agencies, and law-abiding residents.”

He added that the Police Command has concluded arrangements to provide adequate security during and after the Independence Day Celebration on October 1, 2024. Residents are urged to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies, participate responsibly, and respect others’ rights.

Commissioner Garba also commiserated with the families of the five officers who lost their lives in a tragic motor accident on September 23, 2024, and appreciated the prayers and support given to the families of the deceased and injured victims
