By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Kwara State High Court of Justice has restricted the planned October one public protest in the State, to the Metropolitan Square, Asa Dam Road, Ilorin.

This was the ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by the Kwara State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman.

According to the State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara, the restriction was in the interest of public order and safety.

The interim injunction directed that the 4th respondents or any person, not to converge or carry out any act of public protest, rallies, processions and or meetings in any other place except at the Metropolitan Square, Asa Dam Road, Kwara State on 1st October, 2024, or any other date.

The court also ordered the Director of State Security Service, the Commissioner of Police, the Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps to provide adequate security for the protection of lives and property of the people of the State.

Justice Adebara also ruled that the interim injunction would be in force for at least seven days and thereafter adjourned hearings in the suit till 21st October, 2024.
