FG DISTRIBUTES 21,924 BAGS OF RICE IN KATSINA                                                                                                                                          07-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Presidential Committee on Food Security has launched the distribution of 21,924 bags of rice to various indigent groups across the thirty-four Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

At the flag off of the distribution at People’s Square in Katsina, the representative of the committee from the Northwest zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari explained that the assistance was meant to reach less privileged persons in each of the 361 wards in the state.

He noted that the periodic distribution of rice palliatives across the country is part of the federal government’s Food Support Programme aimed at ameliorating the current hardship occasioned by the rise in prices of food and other items in the markets.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, said the distribution of the rice palliatives was part of measures to ensure food security in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Radda, expressed appreciation to the federal government for the gesture and assured the Presidential Committee on Food Security that the rice will reach the target beneficiaries.

He noted that committees have been set up at local government and ward levels to ensure equitable distribution of the food assistance.
