NSCDC TRAINS 135 PERSONNEL IN WEAPONS HANDLING                                                                                                                                    09-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence, NSCDC says the additional 135 personnel equiped and trained in weapon handling in FCT will strengthen the fight against vandals and other vices in the territory.

The FCT Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Olusola Odumosu stated this at the Passing Out Parade of 135 personnel under the batch A basic arms training course in Abuja.

He said the personnel who had undergone rigorous training in accordance with global best practices were ready to be engaged in the fight against crimes.

Dr Odumosu while expressing the readiness of NSCDC in curbing the challenges of vandalism in the FCT, maintained that the command has arrested over one hundred and twenty persons suspected to have engaged in vandalism and theft of public facilities in FCT in the past nine months.

Dr. Odumosu charged the personnel to always remember the rules of engagement and be professional in weapon handling while discharging their responsibility.

The Director of Security, FCTA who represented the FCT Minister, Ahmad Buba-Gwary stressed the need for the deployment of the trained personnel to protect the Abuja light rail lines and streetlight from incessant attacks by vandals.

Mr. Buba-Gwary pledged the commitment of the FCT administration to continue to provide necessary working tools to NSCDC, to enable the command carry out its responsibility.
