COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ACADEMIC STAFF UNION KANO DISTANCE SELF FROM SPLINTER GROUP                                                                                                                         14-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Federal University of Education, Kano, has raised concerns over a splinter group’s alleged attempts to disrupt peace and unity among union members.

In a letter to the Acting Vice Chancellor signed by the Chairman Ado Abdullahi COEASU executives accused the breakaway faction of trying to create chaos by forming a parallel union.

He said COEASU viewed this as an attempt to undermine the transition process initiated by the University Council.

COEASU emphasized its legitimacy, citing successful operations in other upgraded institutions.

The union urged management to address the potential threat to peace and smooth transition.

The letter was copied to the Chairman, Governing Council, Commissioner of Police, Director of State Security Services, and Divisional Police Officer, Gwale Division.
