FG URGED TO CARRY HUMAN RESOURCE

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The federal government has been urged to carry human resource along in its monetary policies to achieve desired success.

The Director General, Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS, Comrade Issa Aremu made the call while
speaking at the third annual conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) in Ilorin,Kwara State.

He said that labour is at the heart of the government’s, monetary policies, “because labour creates wealth”.

According to him human resource has to be well motivated, trained and should be part of the reform agenda of the government.

Aremu commended the CIPM for putting human resource at the centre of national discussion, adding that reforms are inevitable despite the challenges involved.

He also said that the greatest challenge currently in the world of work is the crisis of compensation, noting that employers of labour should pay working men and women very well.

The Director General said, it’s only when you pay them for the work done that you can get the best out of them, There is a direct link with productivity and proper motivation of the work force.

He also thanked federal and the state government over the implementation of minimum wage.

Aremu maintained that the minimum wage is not same as living wage.
