FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION SUSPENDS 13 STUDENTS OF THE FGC ENUGU, FOR SIX WEEKS, OVER AN INCIDENT OF BULLYING                                                                                                                                    13-11-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Federal Ministry of Education has suspended 13 students of the Federal Government College, FGC Enugu, for six weeks, over an incident of bullying, pending the report of a disciplinary committee set up to investigate the matter.

A statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade explains that the incident came to light following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media platforms, involving the assault of a Senior Secondary, SS1 Day student, by a group of students last week.

According to the statement, as part of measures to address the incident, the Ministry has directed the School- Based Management Committee to collaborate with security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, including possible affiliations with external groups.

Also, security at the College has been enhanced by engaging law enforcement and reviewing existing safety protocols.

It says counselling and rehabilitation support will be provided to address all forms of problems while promoting their reintegration into a positive school environment.

According to the Statement, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa reaffirms the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment in all federal schools across Nigeria.

It assures parents, guardians, and the general public that all necessary actions will be taken to restore peace and ensure the protection of students at FGC Enugu.
