STAKEHOLDERS IN ANAMBRA STATE DESCRIBE THE 2025 BUDGET ESTIMATE AS HOPEFUL 20-11-24
By Sadiq Aminu Some stakeholders in Anambra State have described the 2025 budget estimate presented by Governor Chukwuma Soludo before the state House of Assembly as hopeful.
According to them, with concerted efforts and determination, the present administration would no doubt achieve success.
The Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Ejike Okechukwu described the draft bill as a progressive and developmental budget that would lead to improved dividends of democracy to the people.
According to him, the increase on the budget especially in the Health, Education, Works, Power and other sectors would play a vital role in the development of the state generally.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Chief Chukwuma Okoye commended the Governor for presenting a budget that was considerate of the economic realities on ground and projecting for a better future for the people.
Chief Okoye who represents Awka South constituency 2, observed that the draft reflects the commitment of the present government to enhance security through targeted investment in technology, community engagement and strengthening the capacity of relevant security agencies.
The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake explained that the present administration was not just presenting a budget but had taken time to articulate what will be of interest to the people of the state .
She said the government was very clear and certain on the things that were taking the chunk of the budget including education which had a 101 percent increase from the 2024 budget.
The Commissioner noted that the Professor Soludo led administration was intentional to harness the numerous natural resources in the state hence the draft estimate of two billion naira budgeted for the Solid Mineral Sector.
She explained also that the ten billion naira earmarked for the development of leisure parks and four heritage sites across the state in 2025 was commendable.
Africa247 correspondent reports that the Speaker, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze urged all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies to comply with the budget defence time table as the law makers were poised to ensure speedy passage of the bill.
