CONSTITUTION REVIEW: STAKEHOLDERS STORM ABUJA TO DELIBRATE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTONOMY                                                                                                         02-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                               All is now set for the deliberations on Local Government autonomy in Abuja the nation’s capital.
The House of Representatives has slated today to hold National Dialogue on the Long awaited Local Government autonomy.
The National dialogue is aimed to consolidate ideas for a robust discourse on the independence of local government administration in Nigeria, which is critical to the nation’s constitutional review efforts.
More also, other engagements during the Dialogue is expected to focus on the ongoing controversial tax reform Bills which is presently before the National Assembly, the conduct of Local Government elections, security issues at the Local Government level among other things.

The National Dialogue on Local Government autonomy is organized by the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review Committee, chaired by the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Mr Benjamin Kalu.
There has been years of agitations for the Local Governments across the country to have their autonomy for desired Socio-economic development to get to the Local level.
