By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  Organized labour in Nasarawa State has called off its two-week strike after reaching an agreement with the state government on the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage.

The announcement was made at a joint press briefing in Lafia by the State Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ismaila Okoh, and the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Mohammed Doma.

According to Comrade Ismaila Okoh, the agreement follows extensive negotiations with the state government and interventions by key stakeholders. A template has been finalized for the consequential adjustments to the minimum wage for workers on Grade Levels 7 to 16.

Meanwhile, Comrade Mohammed Doma confirmed that the payment of the new minimum wage, including the agreed adjustments, will commence on December 1, 2024.

The labour leaders praised workers across the state for their solidarity and peaceful conduct, which they said contributed to the amicable resolution of the industrial dispute.
