NASARAWA STATE GOVERNMENT ARRESTS THE OWNER OF A PRIVATE MINING COMPANY IN KURE                                                                                                                        22-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   Nasarawa State government has arrested the owner of a private mining company for operating illegally in Kure, Amba community, Kokona local government area of the state.

State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr Yakubu Kwanta disclosed this during a raid on the illegal mining site in Amba.

The state commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources Mr Yakubu Kwanta said the arrest followed credible intelligent report about illegal mining activities in the area.

Mr Yakubu explained that governor Abdullahi Sule had directed the immediate closure of the mining site to enable the state government ascertain the authenticity of their documents.

He reassured residents in the state of the present administration’s resolve to flushout illegal miners from the state to ensure security of life and prosperity of the citizenry.

The operation was carried out by the combined security team of the Police, DSS and Civil defence.

Nasarawa State government had early this year suspended the private mining company but it refused to adhere to the directive.
