POLICE IN ANAMBRA STATE CONFIRMS THAT 22 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE STAMPEDE THAT TOOK PLACE IN OKIJA                                                                                  22-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   Police Command in Anambra state has Confirned that twenty-two people lost their lives in the stampede that took place in Okija , Ihiala Local Government area.

The Commissioner of Police, Obono Nnaghe made this known shortly after he visited some of the victims who were receiving medical care at the hospital.

In a statement made available by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga says the Commissioner while commiserating with family and friends of the deceased, wished the injured a quick recovery.

It noted that meanwhile, investigation into the unfortunate incident is still ongoing.

The Statement says the Police Command remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents of Anambra State on crime prevention, responding promptly and effectively to emergencies, Protecting vulnerable populations and Foster a sense of security and community.
