POWER MINISTER PLEDGES COLLABORATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS 17-01-25
By Sadiq Aminu The Federal Government will continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the protection of electricity facilities in order to provide stable and uninterrupted power to Nigerians.
The Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, stated this at the Inauguration of the 110MVA power Transformer at the Isolo transmission substation, Lagos.
The newly inaugurated 110MVA transformer at Isolo would improve supply of the electricity to Airport Road, Ajao Estate, Isolo LCDA, Idi-Araba, Aswani, and other places in Lagos.
Mr Adelabu, who decried the incessant vandalism of electricity facilities and installation, said that efforts are in top gear to work with stakeholders, including community vigilantes, to protect electricity installations from vandalism.
He solicited the support of Nigerians and security agencies in the protection of electricity installations across the country, noting that to guarantee uninterrupted electricity, vandalism must be stopped.
Mr Adebayo said that the government would continue to prioritize the improvement of critical infrastructures and other facilities to improve businesses and the economy, thereby providing a conducive environment.
In a welcome address, the Managing Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Dr. Sule Abdul-Azeez said that 110MVA Power Transformer would enhance the sub-station capacity and boost the station’s ability to deliver improved electricity supply to residential, commercial and Industrial customers in key areas like Airport roads and other parts of Isolo
Dr. Abdul-Azeez said the company has installed over forty-two transformers last year alone in various substations across the country, urging Nigerians to join TCN in the fight against power installation vandalism, saying the journey to robust grid would significantly accelerated if the vandals did not destroy existing infrastructure.
The Managing Directors of discos in Lagos, applauded the TCN commitment in strengthening and improved electricity access, support industrialization and enhance economic productivity.
