By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   Following the Petrol tanker explosion that claimed about Eighty lives and injured many others around Dikko Junction, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, the State Government has banned trailers from passing on top Dikko bridge to avoid a recurrence.

Governor Mohammed Umaru gave the directive when he visited the site of the explosion.

The Governor noted that violating the traffic code by going up the bridge through One way by trailer drivers contributed to the accident.

He urged the Federal Road Safety Commission and the transport unions to establish a duty post around the accident scene and apprehend any heavy duty vehicle that contravenes the traffic rules.

Governor Bago directed all the relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to assist the victims many of whom are in critical condition.

The Governor appealed to the Federal Government to urgently complete the Dikko Junction – Maje road to reduce traffic congestion and accidents occasioned by heavy duty trucks.
