KANO STATE GOVERNMENT TO OVERCOME PORTABLE WATER SUPPLY CHALLENGES WITH NEW MODERN PUMPS-COMMISSIONER                                                                       22-01-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The Commissioner for Water Resources Kano Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa say Challenges Hindering adequate supply of Portable drinking water to the teeming populace of Kano would soon be history as Government has procured modern water pumping machines .

Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa disclosed this during an interview with journalist in Kano.

He said in an effort to ensure that enough portable drinking water was being supplied to the general populace of the state ,Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the Procurement of modern water pumping machines which will be used at the water treatment plants to ensure effective service delivery.

He said the machines have already arrived the Country,were at Lagos,saying he will represent Kano State Government to received the machines and would be conveyed to Kano State for installation.

Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa noted that proactive measures have been implored to revived the existing water reservoirs which have been vandalized during the last administration.

” You will be surprised how those historical reservoirs were been neglected and vandalized,we will revived them and ensure that they’re functioning effectively with a view to addressing the challenges”

The Commissioner maintained that over one point three billion Naira is being spent monthly on procuring water treatment chemicals and other logistics for effective supply of Portable drinking water to the teeming populace of the state.

He decried the evil acts of some people who tapped the water that was supplied to the people and reserved it in their tanks which they later sold to people,saying anyone found in such act will face the full wrath of the law.

He adviced irrigation farmers who also tapped water meant for public consumption to desist from such act with a view to adequate supply of Portable drinking water.

The Commissioner added that plans are on the way to desilt some Dams in the state geared towards Enhancing irrigation farming .
