MARCUS ONOBUN SUE’S FOR PEACE IN ESAN CENTRAL, WEST AND IGUEBEN FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY OF EDO STATE 22-01-25
By Sadiq Aminu The member representing Esan Central, West and Igueben Federal Constituency of Edo State, in the House of Representatives, Mr. Marcus Onobun, has expressed concerns over the protracted leadership crisis within the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Speaking with jounalists in Abuja, Mr. Onobun stressed the need for leaders of the PDP to rise above personal interest and prepare to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress constructively.
Mr. Onobun,the immediate past Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly said “a strong opposition was crucial to holding the government accountable and save it from posible complacently”
On party affiliation, the legislator reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP but stressed that political parties should not be a barrier to serving the people.
On Edo State politics, Mr. Onobun criticized the state government for focusing on probing the Godwin Obaseki adminstration instead of addressing the current needs of the people.
On the 2025 national budget, Mr Onobun who is the House Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Rural Development decried the drastic reduction in the allocation to the Agriculture sector.
He however called for a broadbased support for the Bola Tinubu adminstration to succed in uplifing Nigerians irrespective of party affiliation.
