KWARA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PASSES 2025 APPROPRIATION BUDGET                                                                                                 30-01-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   Kwara State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 appropriation of over Five Hundred and Eighty Four Billion Naira.

According to the house, the bill represented an increase of over Forty Four Billion Naira, as against the figured of over Five Hundred and Forty Billion Naira that was initially presented by the executive.

In the approved budget, provisions were increased for critical sectors including education, health, agriculture, water, Housing, youths and works and transport.

The budget estimate was passed after considering the Report of House Committee on Finance and Appropriation at the Committee of Supply laid before the House by its Chairman, Hajia Fatimah Arinola Lawal representing Ilorin East Constituency.

Hajia Lawal explained that the approved estimate contained a Recurrent Expenditure of over Two Hundred and Five Billion Naira against over Two Hundred and Four Billion Naira.

The Lawmaker noted that the increase is against over Three Hundred and Thirty Five Billion Naira presented by the executive with a difference of over Forty Three billion Naira increase.

She maintained that the estimate was thoroughly scrutinized as relevant government Ministries, agencies, Parastatals and other stakeholders were invited for clarifications before arriving at the approved budget.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danlad-Salihu directed the Clerk to prepare a clean copy of the proposed budget estimate for the Governor’s assent.
