POLICE OPERATIVES IN ANAMBRA ARRESTS 9 SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN KIDNAPPING AND KILLING OF A STATE LAWMAKER 08-02-25
By Sadiq Aminu The Police Operatives in Anambra state have arrested nine suspects involved in the kidnapping and killing of a state lawmaker in the area.
The lawmaker, Mr Justice Azuka, representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the State House of Assembly was abducted on the twenty fourth of December last year in Onitsha.
His lifeless body was discovered by the security Operatives at the second Niger bridge on the sixth of this month.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga in a release, said the Operatives in a joint operation with the State Vigilante acting on intelligent-led information arrested the suspects and recovered two pump action guns.
One of the suspects sustained a gunshot injury on his leg during a gun duel with the operatives.
The PPRO, gave the names of the suspects as, Ugochukwu Onuorah aged 30, Ikemefuna Ossai aged 20 , Ikenna Orugu aged twenty seven, Chibuike Obiefuna aged 19 and Chinonso Olisa aged 19.
Others were, Chinedu Okoli aged 21, David Ojini aged 25 and the most notorious of them, one Peter Sunday aged 20 with a big tattoo inscription of,”No peace 4 d Government”on his chest.
He explained that the Operatives had also successfully arrested one Chidiebere Nwosu, a kidnap suspect in Uruagu, Nnewi and neutralised some of his gang members that were involved in the attack of Police personnel attached to the Rapid Response Squad.
The Police Image Maker also pointed out that the Operatives neutralised more than one hundred notorious criminals and successfully destroyed many of their camps in Ufuma, Eziowelle, Achalla, Ogbaru and many other places in the State.
Mr Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Nnaghe Itam used the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, for his guidance and overall support and also the Governor of the State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, other sister Agencies, the Media, residents of the State, Anambra State Vigilante operatives, Civil Society Groups and many others for their unflinching support within the nine months that he spent in the State as the Commissioner of Police.
