WATER RESTORED IN DANBATTA, MAKODA, MINJIBIR AFTER TEN YEARS OF ACUTE SHORTAGE 16-02-25
By Sadiq Aminu Portable drinking water has been restored in Danbatta, Makoda and Minjibir of Kano North Senatorial District after ten years of Accute shortage.
The Commissioner for Water Resources Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa Disclosed this during a tour to the three local government areas to asses how portable drinking water is being supplied to the communities .
Doguwa explained governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is fully committed to providing portable drinking water in all nooks and crannies of Kano State .
He said mini water treatment plants at the semi urban centers have been fully rehabilitated and the supply of water has commenced in earnest .
The Commissioner said water is now available at kunya ,Kilawa and ,wailare Villages all in Minjibir local government area while efforts are in top gear to ensure that portable drinking water is been supplied to Danbatta Local Government.
” It was very unfortunate,All these villages have been without water for over eight years,even though they have pipe born connections but negligence of the past Administration led to the delapidation of the water treatment plants ”
He said throughout inspection is currently ongoing on these villages to ensure that all the pipes that were currently liking due rust and other issue as a result of not usage for a number of years were being rectified.
Doguwa noted that all these efforts were attestation of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf efforts towards revitalization of providing clean portable drinking water to the teeming populace of the state.
The Commissioner further Explained that in the next one week or their about water will be fully restored at Danbatta ,he noted that the main obstacle at present Is the blockage of a water valve along Danbatta Thomas Dam ,saying work is currently ongoing to ensure that the technical challenge is being addressed .
Umar Haruna Doguwa maintained that government would not take it lightly with anyone found diverting the water meant for consumption to farm for irrigation purposes .
