IEDPU CALLS FOR COLLABORATION IN FIGHT AGAINST MORAL DECADENCE 19-02-25
The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, IEDPU has called for a collaborative effort with media organizations to eradicate growing vices in the society.
This appeal comes after the recent gruesome murder of a young girl in Ilorin the Kwara State capital for ritual purposes.
The National President of IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, described the incident as an unfortunate situation that must not be allowed to reoccur.
Alhaji Abdulmalik emphasized the need for radio and television stations, as well as other agents of socialization, to take their corporate social responsibility seriously by partnering with the Union.
He said the partnership will foster vigorous and continuous media campaigns against all forms of indecency.
According to a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, the Union has prepared jingles to be aired by media stations, targeting the discouragement of indecency in the society.
The IEDPU, while appealing to radio and TV stations to produce their own jingles, which could be run for the benefit of all, disclosed that the Union was arranging an engagement with opinion and religious leaders on the issue.
It reminds media stations that their operations rely on a peaceful host community, emphasizing that preservation of harmony is a collective responsibility.
As the umbrella sociocultural organization of the Ilorin Emirate, IEDPU’s objectives include fostering unity, progress, and mutual understanding among indigenes, as well as promoting socio-economic development.
