FG, GATES AND DANGOTE VOWS TO ERADICATE POLIO, ENHANCE HEALTH CARE DELIVERY IN KANO STATE 19-02-25
By Sadiq Aminu The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Development, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has applauded Kano State’s commitment to healthcare, particularly in its efforts to curtail the spread of infectious diseases and eliminate polio.
During working visit to the state, Prof. Pate emphasized the need for aggressive action against polio, citing concerns from development partners about the ongoing presence of the virus.
He commended Kano State for passing the Kano Control Disease Control Center Bill into law, highlighting the importance of collaboration between federal and state governments in addressing health issues.
Prof. Pate expressed his pleasure with the level of commitment exhibited by the Kano State team, noting that the state had taken the lead in controlling the diphtheria disease outbreak.
He assured that the federal government would work closely with the state team to ensure every child benefits from the health sector.
Responding, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf represented by the secretary to the state government Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim said the state government highly appreciated the visit of the Minister and the donor partners.
Over the past decade the partnership between Gates and Dangote foundation has been in existence which has played a vital role in enhancing the health sector.
The governor noted that despite the successes recorded ,much needed to be put in place in achieving total eradication of polio virus.
He added that with the continuous support of the federal government and the donor agencies the challenges will be curtailed amicably.
