JIGAWA STATE GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHES SAFE SCHOOLS RAPID RESPONSE COORDINATION CENTRE 07-03-25
By Sadiq Aminu Jigawa State government says it has established a Safe Schools Rapid Response Coordination Centre to monitor security emergencies for and coordinate swift response.
Governor Umar Namadi announced this at the launch of the safe schools initiative by stakeholders in Dutse, the state capital.
He explained that over N342 million was expended on the establishment of the centre which covers renovation and furnishing of the infrastructure and provision of surveillance and ICT equipment as well as two Toyota Hilux and four motorcycles.
He listed the gadgets provided to include Optical Night Vision Devises, GPS Units and Walkie-talkies to be used by security agents manning the center.
“In pursuance of the Public Private Partnership with private security agencies, over 9,000 young men and women are being engaged to provide physical security in public institutions particularly primary and secondary schools as well as health facilities.
“This intervention will also help in addressing unemployment among the youth by providing them with stable and sustainable means of livelihood.
He noted that the state government has included perimeter wall fencing as part of its ongoing rehabilitation of schools across the state.
“As part of our efforts to provide conducive teaching and learning environment in our schools through massive school renovations, we have deliberately included perimeter wall fencing for most of our boarding schools.
“This is part of our commitment to make all our schools secure, safe and conducive environments for teaching and learning to take place”, he said.
Governor Umar Namadi said the jigawa state government will continue to undertake key interventions to make schools secure and safe for learning.
He expressed appreciation to security agencies, ulamas, the traditional institution, community-based organizations and Civil Society Organizations for their efforts in promoting peace, security and social cohesion in the state.
In his address, the Inspector General of police who was represented by AIG Ahmed Ammani explained that he is yet to receive report of any serious criminal incident in Jigawa since assumption of Duty.
He therefore called on people of the state to report any suspicious act to the nearest security outfit for necessary action.
