FG TAKES FULL OWNERSHIP OF FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES, KACHINA, KADUNA STATE 08-03-25
By Sadiq Aminu. The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Southern Kaduna State is to commence academic activities this year.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa stated this in Abuja during the official handover of the Certificate of Occupancy by the Kaduna State government to the Federal Government.
The Minister who said that the budget for the institution had already been approved by the National Assembly and captured in the 2025 fiscal allocation, promised that admissions would commence this year.
He also pledged to ensure the university gets TETFUND intervention.
Dr. Alausa highlighted the courses to be offered in the university to include Nursing, medicine, pharmacy applied sciences (mathematics etc) computer, AI and machine learning and environmental studies.
The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani said Two hundred and seventy hectares of land had been made available for the University.
He pointed out that the siting of the institution in the state was a milestone and it would significantly impact the state.
Governor Sani however stressed the need for the government to employ qualified lecturers and equip the facility with the state of the art equipment to boost teaching and learning outcomes.
The Kaduna State Governor maintained that the state would continue to prioritize education as it was the bedrock of development in any society.
The Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Sunday Katung gave assurances of the state’s readiness to the smooth take off of the University.
President Bola Tinubu had ordered the Federal Government to take over Nok University in Kachia, Kaduna State, and transform it into a Federal University following a ruling to finalise the forfeiture of the privately-owned Nok University to the Federal Government by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The private institution was renamed the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State, fulfilling a promise made by President Tinubu to the people of Southern Kaduna.
The handover of the Certificate of Occupancy by the Kaduna State Government to the Federal government signifies full ownership of the Institution by the Federal Government.
