CHAIRMAN OF MHWUN IN NASSARAWA STATE, URGES THE STATE GOVERNMENT TO PRIORITIZE RECRUITMENT OF MORE HEALTHCARE WORKERS                                                                                         11-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                   The Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria in Nasarawa State, Comrade Ayuba Ismaila Okoh, has urged the state government to prioritize the recruitment of more healthcare workers and improve infrastructure to tackle the persistent healthcare challenges in rural areas.

Speaking in Lafia after a meeting with local government union officials, Comrade Okoh, who also chairs the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, highlighted severe manpower shortages at primary healthcare centres. He warned that the strain on limited personnel is affecting medical services for the growing population.

He called for urgent government intervention, including sustainable infrastructure upgrades and better medical equipment, to curb rising cases of child and maternal mortality.

Meanwhile, Comrade Okoh revealed that plans are in place for the commencement of the new National Minimum Wage for local government workers, along with pension increments. He encouraged workers to reciprocate the government’s commitment to their welfare by remaining dedicated to their duties.
