KANO STATE TASK FORCE INTENSIFIES EFFORTS TO COMBAT DRUG ABUSE 12-03-25
By Sadiq Aminu As Kano State Taskforce on peace restoration and youth rehabilitation intensified efforts in consultation with relevant stakeholders across the state, members of the committee visited Commandant of the NDLEA, Council of Ulamas and commandant of NSCDC.
The Chairman of the taskforce Dr Yusuf Kofar Mata who doubles as the commissioner of science technology and innovation explained that committee is at the NDLEA, NSCDC and other Stakeholders to Identify the areas of more Collaboration to fight drugs abuse and rehabilitate youth.
Receiving the committee in Kano Abubakar Idris Ahmed NDLEA hinted that their mandate goes with the terms of reference of the committee, assuring them of total support.
The commandant then decorated the two commissioners with NDLEA Anti Drug Abuse Ambassadors Awards for their dedication to and commitment to fighting drugs abuse and other social vices among youth.
At the emir’s palace, Dr Kofar Mata informed Emir Sunusi that the committee consists of representatives from all security agencies in the state, and they are at the palace to seek his royal blessing and advice.
Emir Sunusi commended the state government for the initiative, assuring the Emirate’s full support to achieve their goals.
At the council of Ulamas, the committee urged clerics to take the message to their followers especially during Ramadan Tafsir and Friday Sermon to sensitize parents and other Stakeholders in their role in protecting youth form social vices.
On his part, commissioner of information and internal affairs Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya said, they have a group known as SAFE CORRIDOR which collapsed into the committee working together to ensure Kano is safe for all.
