YOBE STATE GOVERNMENT APPROVES EMPLOYMENT OF 267 HEALTH TECHNICIANS 13-03-25
By Sadiq Aminu The Yobe State Government has approved the employment of 267 health technicians to strengthen staffing at health facilities across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Muhammad, the employees includes 140 government-sponsored graduates of medical sciences in India, consisting of 43 B.Sc. Nursing graduates, 43 B.Sc. Pharmacy graduates, 22 B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science graduates, 24 B.Sc. Radiology graduates, 7 B.Sc. Optometry graduates, and 1 B.Sc. Public Health graduate.
The statement added that Gov. Mai Mala Buni has also approved the employment of 127 health technicians currently serving as volunteers in state-owned health institutions.
The Governor recently directed the employment of qualified medical technicians who had previously graduated and served as volunteers in medical centers.
Meanwhile, the Yobe State government has upgraded four General Hospitals in Gashua, Potiskum, Geidam, and Buni Yadi LGAs to Specialist Hospitals.
Additionally, eight Primary Health Centers have been upgraded to General Hospitals. The State Teaching Hospital has also been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to improve healthcare access and affordability for all citizens.
In the past five years, the current administration has consistently offered automatic employment to graduates of the state-owned Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery to boost personnel in medical facilities.
