PRESIDENT TINUBU URGED TO MONITOR PENSION BOND DISBURSEMENT TO PREVENT SABOTAGE                                                                                                                    20-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                         President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to ensure adequate monitoring of the disbursement of N758 billion naira bond for settlement of all pension arrears to prevent sabotage.

In a statement the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria, National Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi also commended President Tinubu for taking a bold step in relieving Federal Pensioners of the economic hardship they are facing.

According to the statement the new policy must be well-monitored to prevent any sabotage by some Pension Fund Administrators [PFAs] who have been accused of frustrating some pensioners who enrolled with them.

It explains that some Pension Funds’ Administrators have added to the problems confronting the pensioners by delaying payment of their pensions for nearly 2 years after their retirement.

It says all these infractions and inefficiencies have encouraged corruption in the Public Sectors of the Nation’s Economy.

The statement call for holistic approach and efficient monitoring process by the Presidency and the National Pension Commission PENCOM in solving pensioners problems once and for all.

It appeal to State governors across the Federation to emulate the Federal Government in clearance of debts owed States and Local Government pensioners.

The statement also call on the federal government to urgently consider amendment of relevant Administration of Criminal Justice (ACJ) Laws to punish economic crimes being committed in Nigeria.
