Gov. Yusuf: Councillors Must Be Involved in All Local Government Projects

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has mandated that all 44 Local Government Chairmen involve their councillors in every project executed within their areas. He gave the directive during a meeting with 484 councillors held at the Government House’s Coronation Hall.
The governor emphasized transparency, accountability, and collaboration, stating that his administration will not tolerate corruption or mismanagement. He urged councillors to work closely with their chairmen to improve key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and human development.
He also called on councillors to propose meaningful projects for their wards, ensuring grassroots needs are addressed effectively.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Muhammad Tajuddeen, commended the councillors’ dedication and encouraged them to continue supporting government initiatives.
Speaker of the State Assembly, Ismail Falgore, urged unity between councillors and chairmen and appealed for improved remuneration for the councillors.
ALGON Chairperson, Hajiya Saadatu Yusha’u, and Northwest Councillor Forum Chair, Bashir Shehu Achika, both praised the governor’s commitment to grassroots development and called for further capacity-building for councillors to enhance service delivery.
