RECTOR OF NCAT, ZARIA, CALLS FOR A SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT IN THE BUDGETARY ALLOCATIONS AND FUNDING FOR THE COLLEGE
06-05-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The Rector of the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila, has called for a significant improvement in the budgetary allocations and funding for the college.

This appeal comes as the institution faces a high rate of attrition among its trained personnel, who are being lured away by better-paying jobs in the industry sector.

According to Dr. Ismaila, as contained in a statement by the Director Information, Dr. Jude Amadi, the poor wage profile of the college’s staff has led to a mass exodus of trained personnel to sister agencies and industry sectors that offer higher salary remunerations.

He made this remark during an oversight visit and facility tour of the college by the Chairman, House Committee on Aviation Technology, Mr. Tajudeen Abisodun.

Dr. Ismaila emphasized the strategic position of NCAT in producing a substantial percentage of the aviation industry workforce and professionals in Nigeria.

He expressed gratitude for the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, and previous administrations for their support in the institution’s success.

The Committee Chairman, Mr. Tajudeen Abisodun, commended NCAT for its significant contributions to the Nigerian and global aviation industry.

He assured the college of his committee’s commitment to supporting efforts to address its major challenges, particularly in improving the welfare of staff and enhancing facilities.

Mr. Abisodun promised to carefully study the detailed presentation made by the Rector, with a view to identifying priority areas for intervention.

He also assured of his committee’s regular interface with the Rector to meet the necessary needs of the college.

The Committee members were impressed by the college’s facilities and infrastructure, and they pledged to work towards ensuring that NCAT receives the necessary support to continue producing high-quality aviation professionals.
