NSA, MALLAM RIBADU, ADVOCATES STRONGER COLLABORATION AMONG STAKEHOLDERS TO PREVENT AND COUNTER USE OF IEDS BY INSURGENTS 07-05-25
By Sadiq Aminu. The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has advocated stronger collaboration among stakeholders globally in the quest to prevent and counter use of improvised explosive devices, IEDS by insurgents in carrying out their nefarious attacks.
Mallam Ribadu made the call at a stakeholders meeting on consolidating collaborative efforts to prevent and counter the acquisition and use of IED by terrorist groups in West Africa, holding at the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Office of the National Security Adviser, NCTC/ONSA in Abuja.
The NSA was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Service Office, SSO, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma said the regional meeting on countering improvised explosive device, CIEDs was a means of coming together to address the pressing need of preventing and countering the acquisition and use of IEDs by terrorism groups in the sub-region.
Mallam Danjuma thanked the global counter-terrorism forum, GCTF, West Africa capacity building working group, the international institute of Justice, IIJ and the United Nations Office on drugs and crime, UNODC for the collaboration in organizing this the important forum, adding that their dedication to strengthening the regions collective efforts in combating terrorism is highly commendable and appreciated.
He noted that bringing together representatives from Ministries, departments, and agencies in Nigeria, as well as experts from across the West African region, GCTF member states, and other relevant stakeholders aimed at developing effective mechanism to enhance the collective ability to prevent and counter the use of IEDs.
In a remark, the Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Nigeria, Hocine Mezoued, who spoke in French commended Nigeria and the organizers in particular for organizing the event.
Ambassador Mezoued assured of his country’s readiness to standby Nigeria and the rest of sister African countries in the fight against terrorism to achieving lasting security and peace for the citizens.
